I'm sorry that Tech is not a member of the mighty SEC which is ready to enter the NFL along w/ the AFC and NFC as the SECC . Sorry that a 10 win season is unacceptable . Sorry that Tennessee can't field 22 players due to injuries . Tech was missing it's best secondary player cause he can't pass tests ; ) . Sorry for being an alum of VPI and wanting to enjoy their successes . Sorry the Chick-Filet Bowl is not a BCS bowl . Sorry that only Bama fans can celebrate a win . Sorry that a win in a rivalry game is no cause to be happy . Yes it is an unusual rivalry in that the teams seldom play but split part of a fanbase geographically . Sorry that Tech has not made that final leap to national prominence w/ a national championship . Sorry that Weaver has only recently started getting bigger names on the schedule which has to happen before that final step can be attained . Sorry that you haters hate . Hater? I dont care. But its downright hilarious that the VT fans are so happy finishing their season beating UT, when before the season VT was ranked in the top 5, preseason ACC champs, and national title contenders.

I would say the SEC is the best conference in college football by far. I know you VT fans like to think it is just UT fans that believe that but it isn't and maybe if you would move your satelite around a little and see if you can get a little better signal you could listen to people that aren't UT fans talk about football. I would say VT would fall somewhere in the middle of that conference right now. But I promise you one thing you wouldn't have won , not one, not one, conference championship, not one if you had been in the SEC the last 15-20 years. "The Glory Years" of your program. You know since the dog guy came.....

But anyway, like I said, Congrats..... Hang the banners..... Clear out a spot in that Big' Ol trophy case.....

we should be sorry a 9-3 team played a 7-5 team in a bowl?...without looking it up I'd guess that match-up has happened a great number of times, and the winner has probably come from both sides

we should be sorry a 2nd place Coastal Division team beat a 3rd place East Division SEC team??? Hell, I thought the SEC was so tough that the 12th place team would give VT a game...2nd place v.s. 3rd place isn't that much of a lopsided match-up (neither is 3rd overall v.s. 6th overall) especially since the SEC is so **** tough that UT would have finished at least in the top 4 in the ACC right?

c'mon, it wasn't even close guys...who gives a rats a$$ if this is the worst team since you went 5-7 a year ago...if that's the case the UT should blow Alabama away from here on out b/c it's a team that came that close to beating them

just stop with the excuses some of you (I realize it's not all, most UT fans I've talked to have been humble and recognized the better team won)...

you say VT's record would have been worse if they played in the SEC...well what exactly do you think their record would've been if they played UT's exact schedule??

I see losses to UF and Bama, then maybe a loss to either Ole Miss or Auburn, but probably not both...the rest of the schedule is pure garbage

BUT, for the sake of argument, let's say VT loses all 4 of those games and goes into the bowl game 8-4, vs a 7-5 UT team...and then blows out UT...then would VT have to be sorry for playing a team the caliber of UT in a bowl?

also VT was not top 5 pre-season...VT started out 9th...guess where they'll finish....*gasp* somewhere 8th-10th...which is pretty much exactly what they were expected to do


finally, I don't know how many times this has been talked about on here but we need to get something straight...no VT fan east of Wytheville gives two sh*ts about Tennessee football...they're not the ones rejoicing today, they're not the ones who listened to the BS for the last 15 years after UT won...many of the people I know from school either forgot the game was on or turned it off at halftime to go celebrate the New Year

you see VT fans happy, it's not the entire VT fan base...so when you refer to the ones excited about the win just call them the SWVA/NETN Hokies...because we're the only ones who give a ****, and for good reason

After hearing the excuse "UT was 7-5 and unranked," I have to add this comment:

THAT is why they play the game. On paper, this game sounded like a tossup. The majority of the people I talked to said it was a tossup. The game was played on the field and wasn't even close. UT had momentum going their way during second quarter. They had the chance to make it a ball game.

Today, Florida State was 6-6 going into the Gator Bowl up against 9-3 WVU. They started out slow but won 33 to 21.

I feel excellent Volboy thanks so much for caring . I know how hard this must be for you and I'm trying to empathize , really I am . Losing to a bottom dwelller team like Tech can be traumatic but rest assured you will get over it . By the time next season rolls around and several trips for counseling for that VPI rage you suffer from , you'll be back to singing Rocky Top while you are spanking your monkey . Oh and by the way , my truck only has bird poo on it .
